Introduction
This Privacy Policy provides detailed information on the handling, storage, and protection of your personal information by MyMemory.dev - A web app and a browser extension developed and owned by Dhravya Shah and MyMemory team in 2024. The extension is designed to enhance your browsing experience by providing contextual information based on the content of the web pages you visit. This policy outlines the types of data collected by MyMemory.dev, how it is used, and the measures we take to protect your privacy.
Information Collection
MyMemory.dev collects the following types of information:
In the web app
-
Personal Information: When you interact with MyMemory.dev, we may collect personal information including but not limited to your email address, session data, name, and profile picture. This information is collected to improve your user experience and to provide personalized services.
-
Usage Data: MyMemory.dev stores data related to your usage of the web app, including but not limited to the pages you visit, the features you use, and the time spent on the app. This data is used to improve the functionality of the app and to provide you with a better user experience.
-
Saved content: When you use the save feature, MyMemory.dev stores the content you save. This information is used to provide you with quick access to your saved content. This information is also stored in a vector database so that you can easily search for your saved content.
-
Chat and Query Data: When you use the chat feature or submit queries through the web app, we collect the data you provide. This information is used to provide a rich user experience with history of your past conversations.
-
Personalization / Profile Memory: If enabled (on by default, with opt-out), we store your preferred name, custom instructions, and an automatically maintained memory summary under Settings → Personalization → Memory. The summary is updated periodically from your chat history and can be edited at any time. It is not a complete record of everything that could be inferred from your history. Deleting memory and turning it off does not delete your chats or saved notes; re-enabling rebuilds the summary gradually from retained chats. Full erasure of inferred context requires deleting source chats as well. When personalization is enabled, relevant fields may be sent to the configured model provider with your chat requests — do not store passwords, API keys, or tokens there. You can export this data from Dashboard → Export.
In the extension
-
Web Browsing Data: The extension has the capability to see all websites that users visit. However, MyMemory.dev only stores data when the user actively clicks on the extension button while browsing. The browser history is not recorded, ensuring that your browsing activities remain private.
-
Current page data: Upon activation (click) by the user, MyMemory.dev stores data from the current HTML page. This data is used to provide relevant contextual information based on the content of the page you are viewing.
Data Storage and Security
All collected data is securely stored in a Database hosted on Hetzner. We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
When you chat with the app, your queries may be sent to OpenAI GPT-4 API, Google Gemini API or other third-party services to provide you with relevant information. These services may store your queries and responses for training purposes.
Use of Information
MyMemory.dev uses the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the functionality of the web app and the extension.
- To offer personalized user experiences.
- To communicate with users regarding updates, support, and promotional offers, if consented.
- To ensure the security of our services and to detect, prevent, or address technical issues.
Sharing of Information
MyMemory.dev does not sell, trade, or rent users' personal identification information to others.
Service providers (sub-processors)
We use third parties only as needed to run the product. Relevant providers include:
- PostHog — product analytics (events and funnels). When you are signed in we may associate events with your account. Session replay follows a three-state preference (
off, behavior-only / masked, or full detail with page text). Defaults depend on your region and on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser; GPC always disables recording. You can change the preference under Settings → Privacy. Switching to a more limited preference or turning replay off deletes prior session recordings only — it does not erase your product analytics events (for example onboarding funnel steps). Full detail still never records password fields. - Microsoft Clarity — optional heatmaps / session UX on signed-out marketing pages only, and only when session analytics are not disabled by GPC or regional consent rules. It is not loaded while you are signed in to the app, and is not used to identify accounts.
- OpenAI, Google, and other model providers — to answer chat and personalization when you use those features (queries/content you send may be processed under their terms).
- Resend — transactional email (e.g. account notices).
- Cloudflare — hosting, edge compute, and security.
- Database and object storage hosts for application data at rest.
- Extraction / markdown helpers for page ingest (content URL processing only).
We may also share limited operational data with trusted vendors bound by contract (e.g. abuse investigation, payment processors if you subscribe). We do not sell session replays of your private notes or chat history.
Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information that we hold. Signed-in users can export their data from Dashboard → Export and schedule account deletion (with a 14-day grace period) from Dashboard → Settings → Data. Profile memory can be reviewed, edited, or cleared from Dashboard → Settings → Personalization (including “Delete and turn off memory”). You may also contact us at the details provided below.

We encourage users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are protecting the personal information we collect.
