MyMemory for Open Source
Open-source contributors send us the most useful bug reports we get. If you contribute to any open-source project, Plus (or Pro) is on us: use it for your own notes and research, or build on the API or the MCP server.
How it works
- What you get
- Plus for free. Major contributors, and people who help improve MyMemory (bug reports, fixes, integrations), can get Pro for 12 months or Pro forever. We decide case by case.
- Who can apply
- Anyone who contributes to an open-source project, as a maintainer or contributor, on any forge (GitHub, Codeberg, GitLab, sourcehut…). You don't need to use MyMemory in your project: personal use counts.
- What we ask
- Honest feedback and bug reports. A mention in your README is welcome but never required.
- If it ends
- When a free period ends, your account moves to Free unless you add a card. Nothing you saved is deleted.
Projects we support
Self-Healing Localization (SHL)
Tuomas Lähteenmäki · Python · MIT · GitHub
A lightweight, dependency-free Python library that fills in missing translations and keeps an app's language files up to date.
Tuomas's reports led to API-key requests listing every memory, space filters on search, and new memories appearing in their space right away.
Questions
Is MyMemory itself open source?
No. MyMemory is a hosted service. The API, the MCP server and their docs are public, and this program is how we give back to the open-source community.
Do I have to use MyMemory in my project?
No. Use it for your own notes, research and reading. If you do build on the API or MCP server, tell us: that's how we find the bugs that matter.
My contributions are small. Can I still apply?
Yes. Code, docs, translations and issue triage all count. What matters is that your work is public and recent.
Where do I report bugs?
Email opensource@mymemory.dev. Include the endpoint, the request and what you expected. We credit reporters in the changelog when they agree.
