How to export and search your X (Twitter) bookmarks

Import every X (Twitter) bookmark into a searchable library with the MyMemory Chrome extension, then find tweets by meaning or ask AI about them.

Quick answer

Install the MyMemory Chrome extension, stay signed in to x.com in the same browser, then choose Add memory → Integrations → X Bookmarks in MyMemory. The extension pages through all your bookmarks, skips ones you already saved, and turns each tweet into a memory you can search by meaning, chat with, or query from Claude and Cursor.

Bookmarking a tweet is easy. Finding it again three months later is not: bookmarks pile up as one long feed, and you have to remember roughly when you saved something to scroll back to it. Importing them into MyMemory turns that feed into a library you can search by what a tweet means, not just the words in it.

What you need

  • A MyMemory account. The free plan holds 1,000 memories; each imported tweet is one memory, so large collections need the Plus plan (10,000) or Pro (unlimited fair use).
  • Google Chrome with the MyMemory extension installed.
  • To be signed in to x.com in that same Chrome profile. The extension reads your bookmarks through your existing X session; you never give MyMemory your X password.

Step-by-step import

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar.
  2. Open mymemory.dev and sign in.
  3. Click Add memory, open the Integrations tab, and choose X Bookmarks.
  4. Keep the tab open while the import runs. A progress indicator shows how many tweets have been processed.

The importer pages through your entire bookmark list. If X rate-limits the requests, the extension waits and retries instead of failing, and tweets that are already in your library are skipped rather than duplicated, so running the import again later only adds new bookmarks.

What you can do once they are imported

  • Search by meaning. MyMemory uses hybrid search: vector similarity plus full-text ranking. A query like "thread about pricing a developer tool" finds the right tweet even if it never uses the word "pricing".
  • Ask questions. AI chat answers from your saved content and cites the memories it used, e.g. "What did people I follow say about Postgres vs SQLite?"
  • Organize. Add tags such as #to-read or move tweets into a space per project.
  • Use them in your AI tools. With the MyMemory MCP server, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor can search your bookmarks mid-conversation.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing imports: confirm you are logged in to x.com in the same Chrome profile, then refresh the MyMemory tab and retry.
  • Import stops early: you may have hit your plan's memory limit. Check usage in the dashboard.
  • Import is slow: large collections are throttled by X's rate limits. Leave the tab open; the extension resumes automatically after each wait.

Questions people ask

Does MyMemory need my X password to import bookmarks?

No. The Chrome extension uses the X session already signed in to your browser. MyMemory never asks for or stores your X password.

Will re-running the import create duplicate tweets?

No. Tweets already in your MyMemory library are skipped, so a second import only adds bookmarks saved since the last run.
