Save any web page in one keystroke with the MyMemory Chrome extension
A practical guide to the MyMemory Chrome extension v5.1: Quick Save, standalone notes, #tags, spaces, keyboard shortcuts and bookmark imports.

Quick answer
Press Alt+Shift+S (Command+Shift+S on macOS) to save the current tab to MyMemory without opening anything, or Alt+Shift+M to open the popup and add #tags, a space or a note first. The extension extracts the page's readable text so it is searchable later, and it also imports Chrome, X, Reddit and Instagram saves.
Browser bookmarks save a link and a title. The MyMemory extension saves the page's actual content, which is what you need when you later remember what an article said but not where you read it.
Install
Add the extension from the Chrome Web Store, pin it to the toolbar, and click it once to sign in to your MyMemory account.
The two shortcuts worth learning
| Action | Windows / Linux | macOS |
|---|---|---|
| Open the MyMemory popup | Alt+Shift+M | Command+Shift+M |
| Save the current tab instantly | Alt+Shift+S | Command+Shift+S |
Both are configurable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. The Settings tab of the popup links straight there.
What the popup does
The popup has three tabs.
Quick Save saves the current page's URL, title and clean readable content, extracted with Mozilla Readability. From here you can:
- add up to 20
#tagsas chips (press Enter or comma to add one, Backspace to remove), - pick one or more spaces,
- switch off the URL to save a standalone note, a quick thought that isn't tied to the page.
Recent lists your last five saves with relative timestamps. Site icons come from Chrome's built-in favicon cache, so no external request is made to show them.
Settings holds auto-save mode, shortcut settings and sign-out. Auto-save is off by default, so clicking the icon opens the popup rather than saving immediately. Turn it on if you prefer one-click saving.
Saving the same page twice
If a page is already in your library, the extension shows "Already in your memories" with a green check instead of an error, and no duplicate is created.
Bulk imports
The same extension powers imports from services that don't offer an export API:
- Chrome Bookmarks: every bookmark in your browser, imported in batches.
- X (Twitter) bookmarks: see how to export and search X bookmarks.
- Reddit saved posts: see how to back up Reddit saves.
- Instagram saved posts: see organizing Instagram saves.
Start any of them from Add memory → Integrations in the web app.
Privacy
The extension saves a page only when you trigger it (shortcut, popup, or auto-save if you enabled it). It does not record your browsing history.
