Pocket alternative: move your saved links to MyMemory with a CSV

Pocket is gone. Import any CSV of saved links (Pocket, Instapaper, Raindrop or a spreadsheet) into MyMemory and search the full articles with AI.

Quick answer

MyMemory imports any CSV that has a column of URLs. Choose Add memory → Integrations → CSV Upload, select the file, and MyMemory fetches each link and saves the article text as a searchable memory. It works with a Pocket export, other read-later exports, or a spreadsheet of links.

Mozilla shut down Pocket in July 2025, leaving a lot of people with an exported file of saved links and nowhere to put it. MyMemory can take that file, fetch every article, and give you something Pocket never had: search across the full text by meaning, and AI answers drawn from what you saved.

What file you need

Any CSV with a column of URLs. MyMemory looks for a header containing "url" (for example url or URL); if there is no such header, it checks the first data row for a value starting with http. That covers:

  • a Pocket export,
  • exports from other read-later and bookmark tools,
  • a spreadsheet you saved as CSV with one link per row.

Rows without a valid http link are ignored.

Import it

  1. Sign in at mymemory.dev and click Add memory.
  2. Open Integrations and choose CSV Upload.
  3. Select your CSV. MyMemory shows the URLs it found before importing.
  4. Confirm. Each link is fetched, cleaned of navigation and ads, and stored as a web-page memory.

Duplicate links are detected by URL, so importing overlapping files does not create copies.

What does not carry over

The CSV import reads the link column only. Tags, highlights and read/unread status from the old service are not imported. If tags matter, add them in MyMemory afterwards; tag filtering supports AND and OR queries across your whole library.

Replacing the Pocket habit

  • Saving new links: the Chrome extension saves the current page with Alt+Shift+S (Command+Shift+S on macOS).
  • Reading later: search by topic ("long reads about urban planning") instead of scrolling a queue.
  • Getting value from the backlog: ask AI chat to summarize everything you saved on a subject, with citations to each article.

Your data stays portable

MyMemory exports your whole library as JSON, CSV or Markdown at any time from Dashboard → Export, so you will not be stuck again if you ever decide to move on.

Questions people ask

Are my Pocket tags imported?

No. The CSV import reads only the URL column. Tags, highlights and read status are not imported, but you can add tags in MyMemory afterwards.

What CSV format does MyMemory accept?

Any CSV with a column of links. MyMemory uses the column whose header contains "url", or failing that the column whose first data row starts with http.
